3 Way to Bring Jesus Back to School With You

bjbts

It’s hard to believe, but the beginning of the 2017/2018 school year is just around the corner for many. This means, life is about to get busy; so busy that many will feel they have no time left over to spend with God.

Today, I’ve compiled 3 ways (tested and approved by yours truly) in which you can bring Jesus to school with you!

1. Bible on the Bus

I rode the bus every day of my high school career. I was the first student picked up in the morning and the last student dropped off in the evening; this made for some very long bus rides (an average of 45 minutes each way).  I used this time to read my Bible and/or a devotional. If you are one of those people who cannot read in a moving vehicles, you can download the YouVersion Bible app (it’s free!) on your phone, tablet, etc. and listen to the Bible instead.

2. Prayer Group

I am a firm believer in starting the day with prayer. My junior year of high school a friend and I decided to start praying every morning before classes started with a couple of others. What started as a group of 4 or 5 quickly evolved into 20+ students gathering to pray together every morning smack dab in the middle of the cafeteria.

I encourage you to invite your friend and peers to pray with you each morning. It can be a bit intimidating to do so, especially asking someone you don’t know, but it is especially rewarding and can lead to some awesome friendships.

3. Be Jesus to Everyone

Now, I’m not saying that you are literally Jesus; I am saying to model Jesus’ behavior and characteristics to everyone you know. High school (and middle school) is a tough place and it’s very easy to get caught up in the social hierarchy, popularity, and peer pressure. I know that, personally, I often felt that I didn’t fit in anywhere and I know many other students felt the same way. Because of this I resolved to be the person that I needed in these moments… Jesus. In the Bible, Jesus loved everyone, talked to everyone, helped everyone, and excluded no one. I strived to do these very things to my peers because I knew if I desperately needed these things then they did too.

There is no denying that high school is crazy hectic but don’t let the daily hustle get between you and God. Instead, resolve to spend some time with God each day!

How will you bring Jesus back to school with you this year?
